WHAT IS CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME?

Carpal tunnel, as the name suggests is a passage on the palm side of the wrist. It houses and protects one of the major nerves of the hand called the median nerve. OVER USE of the hand in such a way that it compresses the passing median nerve in this tunnel can lead to symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome and this is the classical description. However carpal tunnel syndrome is more complex than that, really it means that the median nerve is being compressed SOMEWHERE ALONG IT's PATH from the NECK to the WRIST.

CHRONIC CONDITION

Sometimes, the compression is evident in the region of the wrist and the discomfort goes away with the appropriate treatment, many times it does not go away and your symptoms evolve into a chronic condition. In these cases, none of the traditional carpal tunnel treatments help other than temporary relief of the problem at best.
